Makes A Fantastic Controller Hub. Delightful To Use.
It is rare to get a chance to say that any software is delightful to use. After wasting my money with SmartThings, I tried HS3 for a bit but was reluctant to reinstate my Windows server that I had recently decommissioned. Despite the nostalgic 90s feel of HS3 that I was enjoying, I wanted to look for an Apple Mac based solution. I was also open to the idea of running a software from my Synology NAS in the virtualisation mode. However, I wanted an option that was robust and the least fiddly. Vesternet suggested Indigo for the Mac to me. Boy! Am I glad that I took the advice. It is rock solid, I have had it running constantly in the background of my Apple mac mini server. I also use it as the media server and constantly do other stuff in it, but Indigo has been perfectly stable in it. Everything just works. Alexa integration is perfect. So I am able to use plenty of voice commands using Echo Dot from different rooms of the house. The voice commands appear to work more consistently with Alexa+Indigo combination than it did before with Alexa+SmartThings combination. I am very glad that I have got rid of the sluggish and erratic SmartThings. Thanks to Vesternet, I have a more reliable and consistent home automation running 24/7

Fantastic product!
I have tried a lot of products over the years - Vera, Fibaro home center, homeseer, the z-way board for the raspberry pi - and compared to Indigo, everything else is a complete joke. Indigo has been rock solid, and now that I am dipping into writing some plugins, I can say that under the hood it is a thing of beauty. This really is the only product I can recommend.

Good but.....
This is a great product witch provides great flexibility in the way device scenes are implemented however the support of hardware is probably not as good as other solutions. The fact that this software is supported by a couple of guys in the US is also a concern but again it works well. I would also say it is slightly over priced but that is a matter of opinion.

Everything I wanted from home automation
So flexible, so easy to configure and so easy to intelligently control heating and lighting. As a software developer I found My Vera lite never really gave me the control I was expecting, having said this, for some users I'm sure the Vera does it all, but for me indigo give me so much control without needing to go into code, but I can do this if I want. So far I have heating via z-wave, lighting via lightwaverf and some old home easy unit I had around and even weather forecasts on screen via the free weather plug-in Ok so you need a Mac to run it on but if you have one (or buy a cheap mini Mac) this is by a million miles the best control for home automation I've found, wish I'd bought it a year ago, I haven't found anything I wanted this to do that it hasn't been able to do with flying colours.

Migration From Vera to Indigo
I officially out grew the Vera 3 with the amount of devices I have. At that time there was no larger offering from Vera so I had no choice but to look for an alternative. The criteria for a new controler came down to: * Good forum comunity * Third Party Plugins and good documentation of their API's and Langages used * Support for RFXTRX433 for my LightwaveRF devices and Oregon Scientific sensors * Support for my DSC Alarm System * Good and constantly updating Z-Wave support for new devices * Conditional Logic as Standard (Which is not native to Vera, PLEG is required at an additional cost, both monetary and resource) Indigo 6 ticked all the boxes and much more! Indigo 6 even has a built in plugin to Bridge to Vera so you can control Vera devices from Indigo! It made migrating fully to Indigo very painless as I could migrate bit by bit with out migrating in one big bang! Once fully migrated I will never go back. I cant praise this controler enough!

I tested this software for 30 days with the devices I wanted to use. I also wanted to use the resources of my mac mini to the fullest extent and doing this enabled me to avoid having another box.
