I have lightwave eg in my home but have just built an extension. I understand new models have been released, will these be compatible with my current switches (1st release) ?
Gail L. 25 Apr 2016
BEST ANSWER: The old dimmers were the 200 series (JSJSLW200, 220, 230 250 etc). The new 400 series replaced the 200 series at the beginning of 2014 (LW400, 420, 430, 450 etc). You can use a mix of 200 and 400 series in the same LightwaveRF system. However, you cannot mix old and new master and slave units. This is because they use different wired voltages to control each other. So simply a LW200 or 220 can only be used with a LW250 slave and a LW400/420 can only be used with a LW450 slave. This shouldn't be too much of an issue for you as any new 2-way circuits for the extension can use 400 series devices as they won't be physically wired to existing 200 series dimmers/slaves. I have a two way circuit (upstairs and down), but with a big landing area upstairs, and its quite a way from the upstairs switch to the bedroom door. Can i use these to run an additional light switch near the bedroom door?
Mike E. 21 Feb 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Mike, If you have LightwaveRF already on that circuit, the best way would be to use the LightwaveRF Wireless Switch (LW201) - http://www.vesternet.com/lightwaverf-1-gang-wireless-on-off-dimmer-1184 This will wirelessly control the LightwaveRF dimmer on that circuit, so you will not need to run any wiring - that's one of the reasons to use LightwaveRF as it can be controlled wirelessly. This guide has more information - http://www.vesternet.com/resources/scenarios/lighting/lightwaverf If you need more help, send an email to us at sales@vesternet.com
can i just use LightwaveRF 1-Gang 2-way Dimmer (Slave) all over the house as they are cheaper by 6 pounds ?
14 Jan 2016
BEST ANSWER: No that won't work. LightwaveRF Slaves do not have any electrical dimmer in them. They can only be used together with a LightwaveRF master dimmer in a 2-way lighting circuit. You cannot use them by themselves in a 1-way circuit - you must use the standard LightwaveRF master dimmer (JSJSLW400, 420, 430 etc). More information is in this guide - http://www.vesternet.com/resources/application-notes/apnt-4 If you wire them to a standard switch you may cause damage to them as one of the connections is a low voltage connection - this is normally supplied from the LightwaveRF master dimmer.
