Micasaverde have recently announced the new version of the extremely popular VERA Z-Wave Controller.
Its due for release in mid December 2011, but with only very limited quantities, mainly reserverd for dealer testing. We expect full availability about 4-6 weeks later in Jan 2012.
So what's the major differences between Vera 2 & Vera 3? In a nutshell, its higher spec hardware - so if you're a power user, you can add more devices, scenes, groups etc. than you could with Vera 2. But for normal home user usage, Vera 2 is still has enough power.
Everything else is pretty much the same - the design, size, colour (buttons are now on the front).
The other main difference is the updated user interface from MiOS 4 to version 5. However, the good news for all Vera 2 owners is that Vesternet are now offering a Free value added service: any Vera 2 orders now come with the new UI5 pre-installed by us.
Vera 3 will be priced at £250 and Vera 2 still is £168, so the £82 premium is mainly for the additional power in the hardware. The rest is still the same give UI5 can be installed for free.
There's still some stock left of Vera 2, but when sold out only Vera 3 will be available (there is also a Lite version planned for next year with no Wifi, but little known about that now).
