  1.    This itemZ-Wave Secure SRT323 Room Thermostat with LCD display
  2.    Z-Wave Secure Pipe Tank Digital Temperature Sensor - 1m Wire

Secure SRT323 is the latest addition to the SRT range of room thermostats, offering the latest in energy saving and wireless remote control technology. The single-box thermostat provides accurate temperature control in the range of 5 °C to 30 °C, and can be controlled remotely from your smartphone, tablet or Internet connected device.

The time-proportional integral (TPI) temperature control software included with the thermostat optimises boiler firing to help maintain the set temperature without 'overshooting'. It can be used as a direct replacement for existing thermostats without the need for wiring changes. Since TPI controllers fine-tune the heating levels, they provide considerable energy savings, when compared with traditional heating controllers.

With SRT323's interoperable radio technology, you can remotely change the set point, read the temperature or receive alerts on your smartphone. In case there's no network, the thermostat works as a standalone device and can be operated locally. It comes with a clear back-lit digital display that reads the current temperature level in your home.

SRT323 is an ideal partner for use with a home gateway for web-enabled apps, allowing you to remotely control your heating while on the move. You no longer have to worry about returning to a cold house, as long as you have a smartphone or tablet PC handy. The battery-operated device requires no mains wiring and can be installed anywhere in your home.

Least bad drop in replacement for dumb wired thermostat
Installed two SRT323 in a holiday home 3 months ago, connected to Homeseer via and Aeotec zwave stick. Good: 1. Inclusion was pretty straight forward; 2. Temperature reporting is accurate; 3. TPI keeps the temperature within +/-1 degree of the set point; 4. It was an easy drop in replacement for the previous wired thermostat. Bad: 1. It is battery powered in a wired thermostat, which means it is a sleeping device; so a. Remote setting is very flaky (sometimes) to not working (usually); b. The display shows the set point and you have to press to get the current temperature which is the wrong way round; c. It doesn't act as a zwave repeater so adds no strength to the zwave mesh network. 2. the manufacturer doesn't appear to provide any firmware updates, so there is no prospect of it getting better. At the time of writing (Dec 17) I couldn't find anything better to wire into an existing system. In summary, it works for 'home monitoring', but because you cannot reliably change the set point remotely it doesn't work for 'home management'.

Shocking! Avoid!
Had this installed for less than 2 weeks in which time I've had re-add to My network 3 times. This combined with a bad design has led to an electrical pin falling out (luckily not an important one). Temperature setting from the network is very much hit and miss too. Will be reverting back to my manual thermostat over the weekend and then seeking a refund.

Excellent room stat
Quite apart from the z-wave capability, this wired room stat keeps the house very close to the set-point due to the TPI technology. It does a better job than the digital room stat it replaced. Using the z-wave technology I have made it turn up the temperature in the morning, reduce the temperature when I go out, and return it to normal when I come back. I will be adding more such scenarios; I don't need a self-learning one, I'm capable of programming my own.

Some connectivity issues but good thermostat
I'll update this once I know more, but so far the functionality I want (to control my heating remotely when I'm away from home) is not working. I believe this is a "handler" issue but that means I now need to get into the whole murky world of handlers and I've only started reading on that so far. It does connect to and talk to my hub but it does not respond to commands (like change the set temperature) from the hub (Smartthings). But I've given it 4 stars already because as a stand-alone thermostat it is already a huge step forward from my 25 year old classic! It has TPI which I'd not heard of but which intelligently switches the boiler on and off based on a prediction that the hot radiators will get the room to temperature so it can switch off the boiler early and let the remaining heat in the radiators do the work. So I'm seeing much more level (constant) room temperatures (more comfortable) and I'm guessing it is going to save gas. Like I say I'll update this once I get into installing a non-default handler.

Works with Vera Plus - Only set/read temperature
The device works correctly with Vera Plus, the customer service had to remotely change the parameters to hide the buttons OFF / AUTO / HEAT / COOL that are not supported by the device. No problem so far with the network or others. With this device you can only set the temperature, you cannot turn of/on/auto.

Very impressed
Have been using this thermostat with Fibaro HC2 for around 4 months now and so far no problems at all. Very easy to install as direct replacement for Honeywell CM927 battery powered thermostat. Included in network and created three devices - thermostat for setting the set point, temperature sensor and current status (heating or off). Connected to two wires to boiler for dry contact on/off and battery is still strong even with 5 minute wake up intervals to fetch remote temperature settings. Will be buying another for second heating zone. Admittedly, Nest is nicer looking but would highly recommend for more-affordable, easy to install, Z Wave alternative!

Keeps dropping off network
I've had one of these for a few months now. 4 times now it has dropped off the network and I cannot repair. Instead I must delete the device and re-add it. The last time was just over 1 week before it dropped. It's only 6 meters away from the hub and I also have a repeater about the same distance away. I have other devices the other side of my house with no issues at all. Currently very disappointed....

Doesn't work with Secure Boiler Receivers
This was not obvious to me from the description on the website, but if you're expecting this Secure Z-Wave Thermostat to control a Secure Z-Wave Boiler receiver then you're out of luck: it doesn't. For that application, you need the SRT321 instead (which is also cheaper). If you're *wiring* this directly in replacement of an existing wired thermostat then it works fine. But this really needs to be made clearer on the website description.

I could replace my existing wall thermostat with little effort and still hard wire it into the boiler controller but provide better control and visibility.

How do I get the SECURE SRT323 to join my HC2 network. I'll tried using the Add a Device option but it can't see the SECURE SRT323

i am a little confused.. is the SRT323 the same unit that is part of the combo: ??
Nomader 8 Aug 2016
BEST ANSWER: Not quite. The kit you show has the SRT321 in it. The SRT321 is a Z-Wave thermostat but has not internal contact switch - so it cannot be wired to your existing wiring. This is why the SRT321 is often used with the SSR303 receiver (as shown in that kit). You can also buy the SRT321 separately - The SRT323 is very similar but includes switch contacts so it can be wired into your existing heating - replace your existing wired thermostat.
Does this thermostat have a connection for a neutral wire? I would like to use it to replace my old Honeywell T6360B which has live (in), switched live (out) and neutral connections.

BEST ANSWER: As you can see on page 14 of the user manual (available in the guides tab) it has a simple open closed contact. Actually this should be all that you need as the contacts on your current thermostat will only switch the Live and Switched live lines. It wouldn't switch the neutral. The neutral is there to allow the thermostat to be powered by the Live (plus) neutral. As this is battery powered there is no need for that. You would just terminate it safely.
