Why pay more when this appear to work perfectly
Over the last few month have purchased a few of these and and also a few of the metering units and the dimming units to use on my Vera Plus system. So far all the units have paired correctly and always seem to work. Had the same issue as a few people with the blue On/Off light but on the ones I have configured to work the oppisite way around this has not been a issue. Thinking about buying a few more for the christmas lights....

Yes, good, small issue configuring LED
None of this Z-Wave stuff is particularly cheap, but I haven't found a Gen5 Plus device available now cheaper. It seems to work as specified, I've tried it with OpenHAB and Domoticz but in each I am having difficulty getting the LED to work in the ON/OFF mode rather than the OFF/ON nightlight mode - the default. So far, so good, only a week in.

Works but cannot change led state
Works but cannot change led via veralite config. Is this a problem with gen5?

Works perfectly
Works perfectly with Genius Hub Heating solution. Better range than the cheaper plug offered by Vesternet and seemed to include easier.

Works well with Hometroller and HS3
I have bought several of these with a Hometroller to form the basis of my new home automation system, replacing an ageing X10 system. So far (some three months in) they have been totally reliable, as has the entire system (all purchased from Vesternet). I particularly like the way you can configure the light on the front of the switch to either be lit when the power is on, or lit when the power is off.

Works with vera plus
It's a plug that works. Not a lot to say but it's nice when something adds itself to vera without any fiddling. Has a blue light on it that glows when plugged in but the light is off. I like this as I can see from a distance that the socket has power, but you can change it so that the blue light only cones on when the light is on if you want to.

Unfortunatly the socket with enregy meter out of stock so had to go for this one. I have one metered one which has proved rock solid, I did have an issue with one that I bought from Vesternet returned proved faulty so they shipped a replacement all speedy and hasslefree. These switches are rock solid and controlled via my Vera Edge mulitple times a day and have no reliability issues ever which is what I need in my smarthome.

To control a light switch that the plug is hidden for. Also acts as a repeater, so will help with z-wave range.

Because this is the easiest way to control electrical appliances remotely with Z-Wave. I have about 10 of these already - over 2 years one has failed. this is a lot better than the previous make (Everspring) which had a failure rate of about 30% over 2 years.

Does this wall plug default to 'OFF' after a power failure? Can it be configured if not?

Does this unit support associations?
Marc 29 Apr 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, as a controlled device but not as a controlling device. In other words you can associate another Z Wave switch with it so that the unit switches on and off with the other switch device. But you cannot associate another device with this unit such that when you switch this unit on/off directly, the other device goes on and off with it.
I purchased 4 of these from another supplier and it appears that they are not repeating the signal. I have tried lots of combinations with no luck. Really need a plug in module that does mesh the signal fine. Have a feeling the other supplier has sold me old stock of the original version (not the G5 version). Can you confirm 100% that these mesh the signal?
nickb512 13 Apr 2016
BEST ANSWER: The TKB Z-Wave and Z-Wave Plus (Gen5) both work within the mesh network. This is true of all Z-Wave mains-powered devices. So I'd doubt the issue is with the TKB. It would be best to check that your Z-Wave controller is correctly allocating the routing table so that it knows that signals can be routed via the TKB wall plugs. If it hasn't had time to create an accurate routing table then it will not be sending signals to other devices via the TKB (as it doesn't know that's possible). Hope this makes sense.
Can you read the status of this device? I'm not looking to measure power drawn. I just want to interrogate it to find out if it is on or off (from a Raspberry Pi, or possibly from a Z-Wave controller).
Amir K. 27 Mar 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. All Z-Wave devices report their status back to the Z-Wave controller. So this will be fine.
This says it's a uk version but the product description says it plugs into a schuklo socket. Is this just an error?
Guest Visitor 19 Mar 2016
BEST ANSWER: Looks like that was a typo. This is the UK version of the TKB Gen5 wall plug. This has now been corrected.
