This kit enables you to control Z-Wave devices together with a huge range of 433MHz devices available, including LightwaveRF (433MHz) and Somfy RTS - all from the same controller and user interface. Note: The RFXtrx433E does not support LightwaveRF Heating products as they do not use the 433MHz frequency band.

Confusing at best
Bought to replace my own rather basic and cobbled python/java coding and with a view towards moving one area of the home from lightwaverf to zwave. The first problem i had was getting told my password was invalid. Something like AberY$twith8 appears to conform to the rules but is considered "invalid" with a number present. Having solved this my net problem was that the device was constanty showing as off lie on the vera website. I was only able to resolve this by using small reset button on the device. The rfxtrx instructions here worked up to a point (I can't find the MIOS or whatever tab - is tis for an earlier UI?) That said, things did start to work and an Owl energy meter was soon detected. It reports correctly but I can find no means to make a voltage adjustment. Memory is a it vague but somewhere I had one in my code to get the I think 230V the Owl is based on to our 240V. This difference is enough to make the Owl meter to read say 1000W when Vera reports 958W. I've been unable to find Oregon sensors in the Vera setup to add these. Vera is currently reporting 3 rfxtrx devices where there are only 2 (the older model running my code and the newer E model I am trying with and got with the Vera). Vera is reporting lights in the form RFX Light L1.0/F01 . I've no clue as to how I might translate the standard RFX addresses I have for our devices (eg. address 0xf3a9b0 unit 13) to this and don't fancy playing the "what light turns on/off with this" in our slightly sprwaling bungalow with people moving and triggering sensors. OK these are initial impressions and I haven't even got as far as trying to add the Visonic alarm, seeing how I might add events or add my own custom device (I've a model windmill I made that sort of speaks XPL) But so far I'm decidedly unimpressed

I had "LightwaveRF" kit and "Nest". I wanted to expand my system and bought "Vera Plus + RFXtrx433E", some relays and sensors. It works, and works really well. Initial problems with "Vera" dates were sorted by email. Early days but home automation well on the way.

BEST ANSWER: Simple answer is yes. That's how I use it. The RFX will be installed as an Z wave device, then you will use that to pair to your lightwave devices to control them. Therefore Vera app/homepage (remote control) to switch on lightwave dimmer > sends command to Vera edge > Vera edge sends command to RFX > RFX sends command to lightwave RF. Hope that helps.
I am already using a lightwaveRF link (JSJSLW500WH) for installed LightwaveRF products. In order to use the Z-Wave Vera Plus in conjunction with the LightwareRF products, can I use my existing link or do I need to buy the RFXtrx433E?

BEST ANSWER: In theory you could keep using your Wi-Fi Link - but you would need to use a lot of LUA to send UDP commands from VERA to the Link. It is much easier to do with the RFX adapter as there is a plugin for VERA so works great after the initial configuration.
Can I use a Vera Edge and a RFXtrx to use a Lightwaverf mood controller to trigger an event such as switch on a Hue light?

BEST ANSWER: yes - each button appears from the mood controller as a device on its own you will still need the bridge for the hue light though. If you have older Living colours phillips lights ( have Smart link on the unit ) there is a way to combine these with the newer hue lights whihc are Zigbee protocol. I have both working from same bridge I didnt try to simply add the hue lights to Vera without the bridge - as the bridge is needed to do do the scenes and the colours etc.
I recently brought a vera plus and setup the geolocation in both pc and phone. It sends me notifications when I leave and arrive home but doesn't actually set to away mode. How can this be resolved ? Thanks

How does Vera solve the problem of one-way communicating devices (LightwaveRF) which state can be changed outside Vera (eg. by pressing a dimmer button). Is there an nice way to represent LWRF switches in Vera, so they don't display their current state, and allow ON / OFF / set dim level action ?

BEST ANSWER: Hi, There is no way for VERA to display status information, as this simply does not exist in LightwaveRF devices. For instance a LightwaveRF wall dimmer is purely a receiver, it has no way to send information to a system about its state. The VERA icons show the state that a device was set to via VERA. But if these are changed manually at the dimmer (for instance) then this will then be wrong as it is not updated. This guide shows how to create LightwaveRF devices in VERA and how they icons look - Hope this helps.
