Smarter Home - STARTER Compatible

The Vision ZP3102-5 Z-Wave motion detector is triggered by movement; allowing it to be used as a security and home automation sensor.

The sensor monitors changes in infrared level and movement that indicate a person's presence. Once detected, the unit sends an alert to up to five associated Z-Wave devices.

The detector also includes a temperature sensor that can be used to monitor the room's temperature or send an alert when the temperature is too low (see note below).

The unit is battery-operated, an alert will be sent to the central controller and the unit's LED will flash when the battery level becomes too low. It also includes a tamper switch that sends an alarm signal if anyone tries to prevent it working.

Note: When used in VERA, the temperature sensor is not available as a separate icon. This means that you must use LUA code to access and use the temperature value.

Z-Wave Plus

The Z-Wave Vision Motion Detector - Gen5 is Z-Wave Plus Certified. Z-Wave Plus (5th Generation Z-Wave) offers a lot of new features including increased range, extended battery life and Over The Air upgrading (OTA). Take a look at our "What is Z-Wave Plus" guide for more information

Connected straight away to Vera Edge. With default parameters the battery dropped down to 80% in about 48hours, changed the default wakeupinterval 1800 (30mins) to 7200 (2hours). Which has certainly slowed (or halted) the battery drain issue. I will report back when it has been running longer.

Why is my sonsor logging every motion even without being armed?
Brian E. 4 Aug 2016
BEST ANSWER: Using the Arm/Disarm flag in the controller only acts as a flag in the trigger condition for a scene. It doesn't disable the motion sensor - it is still detecting motion at every instance.
Does this pir work with Piper?
Guest Visitor 17 May 2016
BEST ANSWER: As far as I know, Piper has quite limited support for Z-Wave devices. Last time we checked they only allowed their own PIR devices to work in the system and did not support any Z-Wave motion sensors. It would be best to check on the Piper forum to see if this restriction has been changed.
