Only on/off functionality with Domoticz
I bought this as I wanted the different alarm sounds, reading the documentation I saw no reason why it should not work. It's a good size and the main emergency alarm is good. Unfortunately I use Domoticz and I have yet to find a way to enable the different alarm sounds and tones. I have read the vesternet application note, which I have been unable to apply with Domoticz. Zipato forum members have informed me that the device documentation is incorrect (domoticz follows the documentation) and so this is most likely why is does not work. It apparently works well with zipato controllers, which know all the magic numbers. So I'm disappointed. My needs are simple, it should work as advertised in a standard way like all the other zwave devices that I use. I'm debating whether to return the device or wait for future software updates that may fix the problems. It wasn't cheap, so I'm veering towards returning it as I can get a much cheaper alternative that can simply switch a siren on and off.

Very pleased with this siren
Good looking device not too thick so doesn't look bulky on the wall. Love the different melodies, I use the standard siren alarm, a beep to let me know when the alarm is armed/disarmed and a sequence of beeps when entering the home when armed. I would have given five stars but there was some configuration required to allow the siren to work correctly with my Vera Edge controller. Vesternet helped with the configuration and have an application note on it.

Works great and easy to use
I use this with the Zipabox and can access all of the tones. I have a different tone for smoke and burglar alarms, and outside doors opening triggers the doorbell sound, the beep is useful to confirm the Alarm is armed and disarmed. The only negative comment is it comes with a 2 pin mains adapter and a 1/2 meter cable which is pretty useless.

If you have Fibaro expect less functionality..
Ok so maybe the 3 stars is a bit harsh and maybe more a reflection on my Fibaro system, but adding this Siren into the Fibaro only gave me the on/off functionality. There is seemingly no way to change the siren from the emergency alarm sound via my Fibaro. Which is fine for now, but I'm hoping Fibaro get the template sorted ASAP so I can then use for doorbell etc. Another thing to note is that if you set as "lighting" in the Fibaro (as you need to do to be able to have it as a trigger via the Alarm Panel) - once it is turned on you cannot switch it off for 60 seconds. As a normal on/off switch is responds as you'd expect, but you can't include that in the panic alarm settings on Fibaro, instead you'd need to set a scene to trigger the device separately. Otherwise I look forward to the proper template being released for Fibaro and to be able to make the most of it.

Hoping it is a loud enough indoor siren that could be used for a number of functions with my Fibaro. Alarm siren, alarm arming, door bell etc.

Is this version installed as light dimmer? I got version which is installed as binary switch but i cannot get additional sounds to work with Vera because those are controlled with Command_class_notification data. Version which installs as dimmer are controlled with dimmer commands (switch_multilevel set).

BEST ANSWER: I'm afraid this isn't a device that we've tested ourselves so I can't say for sure, but according to the manual it is controlled by the multilevel command class - That said though, how a device is represented in the Z-Wave controller is down to the Z-Wave controller firmware. Either way it should be possible to control the different sounds directly using LUA if you're comfortable with doing that. We show an example of this for the Aeon Siren at
How long is the batteri life? I need to place it in a location without access to mains power.

BEST ANSWER: The Zipato Siren is designed to be permanently powered from the external 5VDC supply. The internal rechargeable battery is only for back-up purposes. We don' have any information on how long it would last, but a guess would be hours rather than days. If you need a battery powered siren you would be better to look at the Everspring or Vision devices.
Hi do you know when your getting these back in stock and will they work with the vera systems?
Chris 22 Dec 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi. We have a new batch of these arriving just after Christmas, so you will be able to order them again. We've not tested this device with VERA, but it uses standard Z-Wave commands, so should have no problem working in VERA. I see on the VERA forum that it installs as a binary device (On/Off) so you can sound it as a standard siren.
