The five states of matter are solid, liquid, gas, plasma, and Bose-Einstein condensate. Solids have a fixed shape and volume, liquids have a definite volume but take the shape of their container, gases have neither definite shape nor volume, plasmas consist of ionized particles and are found in stars, and Bose-Einstein condensates occur at near absolute zero temperatures, where particles coalesce into a single quantum state. Each state is characterized by distinct physical properties and particle arrangements.
