Heat detectors are typically activated at a fixed temperature or a rate of temperature rise. Fixed temperature heat detectors commonly activate at around 135°F (57°C) to 190°F (88°C). Rate-of-rise heat detectors trigger an alarm when the temperature increases rapidly, typically around 12°F to 15°F per minute, regardless of the starting temperature.
