Acceptable carbon monoxide (CO) levels vary depending on the setting. For indoor air quality, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends that CO levels should not exceed 9 parts per million (ppm) over 8 hours and 35 ppm over 1 hour. Any levels above these can be harmful and require immediate attention.
