The first batch of VERA Plus arrived with us last night and will be shipping to all customers who have pre-ordered them today - you'll have them tomorrow.
As with all new electronic products, the VERA Plus will ship with a base firmware installed - this doesn't include all the bells and whistles that will be in the full firmware. This is common practise as it allows the hardware to be produced and shipped while the final firmware is still being developed.
New VERA EU Firmware
We've been working with VERA on this, they have confirmed that the final EU version of VERA Plus firmware will be available on Thursday 18th February (tomorrow). This will be automatically pushed to the VERA Plus when it's installed and booted.
So for now, we would suggest you hold off installing your shiny new VERA Plus until late tomorrow. This gives VERA chance to get the firmware in place and allows your VERA Plus to download the latest (full featured) firmware when it first boots.Note that the firmware upgrade process will take up to 20 minutes, so if your VERA Plus appears to be doing nothing DO NOT reboot or reset it. Leave it alone and let it do it's own thing. This will probably take longer than you think, so be patient.
You can also check the latest VERA Firmware Release Notes to see when this new version has been deployed. If you have any questions about this, then please contact us directly.
We will be doing an initial review of the VERA Plus over the next week, and then a more comprehensive review later in March. The main features that VERA Plus adds is support for ZigBee and BlueTooth products, plus it has a slightly faster processor and better Wi-Fi integration. You can see a full feature comparison with other VERA controllers in the VERA Plus product page's 'Technical' Tab.
This is the first batch to arrive in the UK, we have almost sold out. So if you're sitting on the fence about getting the latest VERA controller, I'd suggest buying it now as I am sure the stock will be all gone by the end of today.
Check out the VERA Plus at Vesternet.
See you soon.
