What’s in a number?

What does a monkey, an American card game, and Zigbee Technology have in common?

They are all associated with the number 500.  £500, ‘500’ the card game and Zigbee celebrates this week as it was announced that there are now more than 500 Zigbee Certified products available to the market, demonstrating a robust ecosystem responding to rapidly rising market demand.

Zigbee experienced early market success with Zigbee Home Automation and Zigbee Smart Energy.  It is predicted that the total shipments in 2015 will be over 50%.

The now 500 strong Zigbee Certified products list represents products using 7 Zigbee standards: ZigBee Building Automation, ZigBee Health Care, ZigBee Home Automation, ZigBee Input Device, ZigBee Light Link, ZigBee Remote Control, and ZigBee Smart Energy.

'The Zigbee Alliance' are a force to be reckoned with, as it promotes worldwide adoption of ZigBee as the leading wirelessly networked, sensing and ontrol standard for use in consumer, commercial and industrial areas.

Clearly, there is no monkey business going on here and they are playing heir cards close to their chest.  As they develop the business of Zigbee further, how long will it be until it reaches a thousand?  Not very long I suspect.
