Scheduling VERA Scenes

This guide shows how to create Schedules that can be used to run VERA scenes.

A scene Schedule is used to automatically run a VERA scene at specific times, days of the week or set intervals
after other events. They are one of the most useful ways to automatically control your scenes and bring real home automation to your smart home system.

For instance a schedule can automatically turn lights on at specified time Monday to Friday and then at other times during the weekend, or you could have the lights come on at Sunset and turn off at Sunrise - all automatically controlled by VERA.

Creating Schedules

Scene Schedules are created and edited in the 'Schedules' tab within the VERA scene.

  • Go to the Automation tab and click the scene's 'Wrench' icon to allow you to edit it

CEdit an existing VERA Scene

  • Go to the 'Schedules' tab and click the blue 'Add Schedule' button

Creating a VERA Schedule

  • You can now name your schedule and choose how it will work:
  • Interval Based - a repeating schedule based on a delay of minutes or hours
  • Day of Week Based - schedule will run on selected days of the week at the specified Time
  • Day of month Based - schedule runs on selected days of the month at the specified Time
  • Absolute - the schedule only runs on a particular date at a specific Time
  • Time - choose between a certain time or based on Sunset and Sunrise times that VERA automatically calculates each day
  • Click the blue 'Done' button when you have finished

VERA Schedule Configuration

  • Click the green 'Confirm Changes' button to save the Scene
  • Click the red 'Save' button to save changes to VERA

Saving the Scene in VERA

  • When VERA has saved the scene, click the blue 'Continue' button on the 'Save Data' screen.

The scene will now be automatically run based on the schedule you've defined.

Example and Video

Take a look at this example that shows how to create a schedule based on Sunset and Sunrise times - Using VERA as a Dusk to Dawn controller
