Excellent addition for Vera Plus.
I have a load of 433mhz switches by Home Easy, LightwaveRF (and an anonymous silver model). With Christmas coming up these tend to get used to control the various lights plus there are a few places I could use a 'cheap' auto switch. Z-Wave switches are expensive (and the only one I've ever bought gave up the ghost) So I saw this and thought I'd give it a go. Installation was a bit more long winded than I'd have liked but it went without a hitch. Once installed you simply press the button on the remote to turn on/off the switch of your choice and it appears as if by magic in the Vera devices list. Rename it, put it into the appropriate room and set up a suitable scene. Excellent value for money and allowed me to reuse a load of old RF gear.

Works with Somfy Blinds
This product works well with Somfy Blinds. It was pretty easy to set up. The guide at Vesternet (APNT-79) was very good. The only hiccup was the RFXmngr software would not run on Windows 10 so I was unable to check the firmware version. I just went ahead anyway and all was fine.

Works with Vera Edge
I installed this following the RFXtrx433E using the Vesternet guide "Configuring VERA to work with RFXtrx433 transceiver". This guide uses UI5 whereas the Vera Edge is running UI7. However, there was no problem in using the guide with UI7, and the installation went completely smoothly. The RFXtrx433E connected immediately with the X10 transceiver TM13U and I added an X10 device (in this case a Marmitek DIN module AD10).

Versatile interface
I purchased the RFX to use with Domoticz software. Took a little time to understand the set up require for different devices, but got roller blinds, sockets and lights working very reliably using five different device interfaces. Had to use different RFX software versions to establish the interface for the roller blinds ( best to engage with a forum for assistance). Has run reliably for 3 months. Now trying temperature and movement sensors.

RFXcom Impressed!
Just getting to this home automation thing and decided to have a go with Domoticz. Having made that decision I needed something to control and despite all the disadvantages of LightwaveRF they do have some nice sockets and switches so purchased some of them to use. I also had some Maplin sockets and inexpensive curtain/blind openers. These all work flawlessly with the unit. It has also picked up some security devices I had. Overall, very satisfied with the unit. It has taken a lot of scouring the internet to find out how to set things up (what's a manual?) but we got there. Next thing is to add 868 MHz and I will be a happy bunny. I have been playing with Arduino and HC11 433MHz TxRs for a home made weather station which I will look to run through this neat little unit.

Working with Vera 3
The setup was a bit of a hassle. Lots of reboots of the Vera 3. Initially I missed a file so it wouldn't work but that was user error. Once I had all the appropriate files and had gone through the setup procedure as described on vesternet ( it worked very easily.

I had the RFXtrx setup with my Vera to control 8 Somfy blinds which it did a great job at. I've now upgraded my system to a Homeseer and am having trouble enabling control of more than 4 Somfy blinds. Homeseer only gives the option for up to 4 device IDs for Somfy RTS devices - is there a work around for this?

I have a CQR Freewave wireless alarm system (I installed it myself about 10 years ago), it is 433Mhz, so I wondered if anyone knows if the RFXtrx433E will allow me to see door contacts (FW/JA60N), PIR(FW/JA60P), external siren (FW/JA60A) etc.? Thx
Simon Y. 21 Dec 2016
BEST ANSWER: It won't no, I had this alarm before, previously named Jablotron, hence the JA notation but no you cannot see them. Best you can do is get a network card for your alarm and query that way
I have a lightwave rf LW920 boiler switch. Can the RFXtrx433 directly control the switch or would I also need the lightwave rf thermostat?
Peter C. 5 Nov 2016
BEST ANSWER: This will not work as LightwaveRF heating products use a different frequency of 868MHz. The RFX works on 433MHz whch is fine for LightwaveRF products such as dimmers, switches etc.
Hi there, Does anyone know if this RFX product works with fibaro? I cant find any support details on how to set it up on Fibaro. If not, is there another 433 mghz controller one can buy that does?
david w. 14 Jun 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi David. This does not work directly with Fibaro HC2 - there is no plugin available to drive the HC2's USB port. You can use the RFX with a RaspBerry PI board running Domoticz. The HC2 then communicates with the RPI - RFX and can then indirectly communicate with the 433MHz devices. This is a convoluted way to do it but we do have customers running this, We have some basic guides showing how to do it, but these are purely an illustration as we do not support Domoticz. You can find these in the application notes section - , -85, -86
Is there any plan to support sensors by Ambient Weather (i.e. F007TH etc...)?
Shafiq u. 15 May 2016
BEST ANSWER: It would be best to contact RFXcom directly to see if they can add support for this vendor. It would help if you can provide some information on the protocol used so that they can add support.

Really keen to get one of these to use with Domoticz and some LightwaveRF kit as well as a weather station like the Oregon Scientific ones that Vesternet sell. I've just browsed the guide to this product and section 2.4 suggests that it might not work with both of these products together. Do you have a any experience of this? What would you recommend? Thanks.
Alastair P. 26 Jan 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Alastair, I've had this working in Domoticz and HomeGenie no problem but only with a LightwaveRF dimmer switch which was in the same room. The 'suggestion' is that you set it to work with as few of the protocols it supports as possible and I've only one LightwaveRF device so I've only ever set it for that. It would really depend on range I would think as the more protocols its set for the more range is reduced. You can set the protocols it uses from within Domoticz. As far as working with LighwaveRF it works brilliantly (although as I said I can't commet on range) but I've gone for Philips Hue bulbs and a Hue Bridge for dimming lights as it's easier to set up and the dimming is so smooth. Hope that helps a bit and if you need to ask anything else then please feel free. Cheers Martin
Can I use the RFXtrx433E with a Samsung Smartthings hub to control lightwaverf 13A sockets?
Bill E. 18 Jan 2016
BEST ANSWER: As far as I know ST doesn't support RFX. I know many people have asked the same question on the ST forum. Enabling RFX to work with ST will require someone to create a device handler and Smartapps to allow ST to communicate with RFX. This would be a complex job and depends on whether ST have allowed the USB ports to be used in this manner. It would be best to ask this question on the ST community or to ST support.
is vera UI7 is supported? can i use it to control 433MHz ceiling fan from Vera?
Efi D. 1 Jan 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I am using a Vera Edge with this RFX controller. When you follow the instructions on the Vesternet website on how to install it, it will be a doddle. For compatibility with your fan I cannot comment on as that is rather a question if the RFX protocol is supporting the fan which I have no knowledge of.
