What is RFID

What is RFID

RFID, or "Radio Frequency Identification" to give it its' full name, uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects.

The technology itself is quite old and has mainly been in use in commercial environments for access management and tracking of goods, but in recent years RFID has become more common in Home Automation systems.

Today we're seeing all manner of devices incorporating RFID, from locks and alarms through to location awareness and proximity detection systems!
