A New Generation of Relay Switch Modules

Single Switch 2 was designed to activate and deactivate electrical devices. Thanks to its small size it can be mounted in junction boxes or inside device casings. The module is controlled either through the Z-Wave network or a simple switch. Power and energy usage measurement feature allows you to monitor and lower your utility bills.

Connect your FIBARO Switch 2 to the system and other devices to enjoy the almost endless possibilities!

General Information

  • Built-in scene activation mechanism
  • Security and notification communication classes
  • Configuration menu with a diode
  • Latest generation Z-Wave 500 series chip & Z-Wave Plus protocol
  • Energy and power measurement of connected devices
  • Supports secure mode (Z-Wave Network Security) encrypted with

Convenient Sockets

Single Switch 2 is equipped with sockets that have an increased cross-section which allows you to connect it to wires with a larger diameter and simplify the installation process.

User-friendly Configuration Menu

A built-in RGB diode is of invaluable assistance during the installation process. The light will show whether Single Switch 2 has been added or removed from the network. You can also see whether a calibration or an update was successful.

A Stronger Signal

Single Switch 2 has an increased signal range which gives you more installation possibilities and an increased network coverage.

Easy to Mount

Just place the module in the junction box and connect it to an existing installation.
The module's miniature size allows you to place it in many convenient spots.

Scene Management

Even the most complex actions can be activated via a wall switch connected to a module. With just a press of the button when entering a room, it’s as natural as turning on the lights.

Smart Notifications

Single Switch 2 features many safety measures that prevent it from voltage drop, overheating, or overcharging. In the case of any of these events, the system will immediately send you a notification.

Notification about Unused Devices

Single Switch 2 allows you to monitor electrical devices that are currently inactive. The system will notify you if you leave a device running and allow you to turn it off remotely.

Automated Water Flow Cut-off

A Flood Sensor in conjunction with an electrovalve and the Single Switch 2 module will protect your home against flooding, boasting the highest level of efficacy possible.

Power Measurement

The new Single Switch 2 allows you to measure the power and energy of the connected load. You can see how much energy is used in your home through clear charts and use that information to reduce your electricity bills.

Mobile Device as a Remote

You may control the module and receive information through your home PCs and mobile devices. Single Switch 2 do not require expensive control panels in order to function.

Takes Care of Your Kids

Are you a parent or do you plan to become one in the near future? Monitoring your children’s study and play time, along with the ability to automatically activate their favorite multimedia might interest you.

Your Home is Wherever You Are

Single Switch 2 module, just like the entire FIBARO system, can be controlled from any place on earth. All you need is internet access.

Note: This module requires 3-wire (including neutral) installation (further information is in our 2-wire/3-wire guide). The output is not potential-free, it does not allow to control a dry contact or load another supply voltage than the input.

Z-Wave Plus

The Fibaro Single Switch 2 Gen5 is Z-Wave Plus Certified. Z-Wave Plus (5th Generation Z-Wave) offers a lot of new features including increased range, extended battery life and Over The Air upgrading (OTA). Take a look at our "What is Z-Wave Plus" guide for more information

Some issues with vera
After successful pairing Vera can't find the device although it's working fine. Vera gives a false error. After some fidling and googling i 've managed to have the error disappear.

Good, but hard to get all features working fully
As with many Fibaro modules (my manufacturer of choice for embedded switches), these units work well and are a joy to install. Although other people on here have found it hard to include, I actually found the process quite easy (with HomeSeer). My only gripe is that I just cannot get it to report a change in instantaneous energy usage. Instead, I have to poll this device regularly to get an indication as to whether the attached device is drawing current or not. I've tried just about everything to get this auto-reporting, but I just cannot get it working. It *MAY* be due to the fact that I'm typically driving low-energy LED lamps with this, and the change between 0 and 5W is not enough for it to auto-report. But I don't see that limitation listed anywhere, despite making it as sensitive as possible to changes in load. Considering I upgraded from the first gen or products from Fibaro to this, I was a little disappointed that I didn't gain my automatic power usage reports. I can work round it using polling, but that keeps my Z-wave network busier than it should be, all the time.

Works but VERY difficult to install
I bought one but after many attempts I could not get it to join my Fibaro HC2 or HCL controllers After help from Vesternet, we decided it was faulty, so I bought a second one, with the intention of returning the first one. When the new one arrived I could not get it to join the controllers. After who knows how many attempts, it suddenly joined my HCL. The issue is that it is CRITICAL the speed at which you do the three clicks needed to activate the join. You have to hit on the exact speed. I have subsequently managed to get the first switch to join my HC2, again after many new attempts. I have 15 other Z-wave devices from various manufactures and have never had a problem including any of them at the first attempt. Fibaro needs to seriously find a better way of managing the inclusion process. Once installed, the device works very well.

Works well but v fiddly
Products work perfect with SmartThings and Echo. So I can now say "Alexa turn hallway lights off", this is fantastic. It also works well with the Samsung Motion sensor. Advice: Ensure you have the correct sized lighting box for the device to fit inside. Also when wiring this up I only connected live and neutral, then tested with power to see if the light came on. Then I powered down and re-attached the rest of the wires to the single switch. Also keep the Fibaro>Light switch wires long. Bad: Extremely fiddly to install and instructions require some interruption. Was unsuccessful installing this into a 2-way switch so far, but will try again soon.

Works great
Works perfectly with smart things once the device handler has been added.

Compatible (via community device handlers) with my SmartThings hub. Tiny device, making fitting into my drywall boxes achievable. Great wireless reception. No published wiring diagrams for two-way switches, but totally plausible to reverse engineer.

I am using a pir to switch this on which seems to work but it keeps showing as device not detected! I'm using Vera edge is there a parameter I need to change or is it not compatible thanks

Hi, I have two separate wall switches connected to the same lamp. Can I install the "Single Switch 2" in one of the wall switches to be able to control the lamp remotely but still keep the dual switch functionality? How should the wiring be done?

briefly switches on then off when I use the attached physical switch rocker. Have cabled as per diagram for a single switch S1 to switch COM leftmost live to switch Live mains live (old style red) to rightmost live mains neutral (old style black) to N bridged N and Q1. Device is picked up in smartthings though toggle on/off doesn't do anything ... only a brief switch on and off when using attached physical switch rocker. Any ideas?

How does this differ from the fibaro relay module? They seem to do exactly the same job.
Mark G. 29 Aug 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Mark, This is the replacement for the Fibaro Relay (FGS-212). The main differences in the FGS-213 are: - Z-Wave Plus - Has power monitoring - 230V powered only (this is the same as the FGS-212) - No dry contacts - this is important. It means that the new FGS-213 cannot be used to control low voltage systems such as garden lights and irrigation, or where you want a pure volt-free switch such as alarm panels and garage door controls. Hope this makes sense.
Is this new Gen5 fuse protected to 8A To use in sockets or do you still require to fit an upstream fuse spur at 8A? Does this report power monitoring?
Chris C. 27 Aug 2016
BEST ANSWER: This new relay/switch does not have an internal fuse, so you would need to install an inline fuse on the live supply. The manual says this should not be higher than 10A.
