Need advice? More information?

The Secure Boiler Receiver is a 2-channel Z-Wave activated relay switch that controls your heating and hot water system's boiler or magnetic valves.

It can be operated remotely using the Secure Wall Thermostat, Secure Thermostat/Timer via Z-Wave or manually using the unit’s On/Off buttons. LEDs indicate the current switching state.

The unit has two relays, which enables it to control the heating and hot water systems.

Note: The Secure 2-Channel receiver does not work with Fibaro Home Center controllers (HC2 or HCL), more information is in our Z-Wave Compatibility Guide

Very good, but look closely at the wiring
No issues with the device itself, not had any disconnects or timeouts and honestly the boiler receiver and the controller are about 10 meters and 3 walls apart so all good on that front. I encourage you to pay attention to the wiring as described in the manual. The connections are not volt-free like the single channel receiver. I bought a relay to convert this to be volt-free and work like the (battery powered) thermostat it was replacing. This was my fault for not reading the manual before buying, not the device!!

Firmware update needed
Excellent product but do not see why they cannot update the firmware to stop the switch timing out every 45 minutes... simple to install and reliable comma between Vera Plus and unit

Great device and easy to install
This is a great device and easy to install. The wiring was a direct match to my existing boiler controller. You have to bear in mind this controller is part of a bigger system by Secure, so if like me you are installing it on its own, then you have to write a couple of scenes and some LUA code to send up wake up calls to the controller to keep the heating and hot water alive in the absence of a secure thermostat. Having said all that Vesternet were on hand to provide helpful advice,

Works a treat..!!
I have the secure boiler two channel receiver running on my Vera Plus without any issues for heating and hot water. I haven't got a secure stat directly associated with it so I'm sending the HeatOn demand every 30 mins during occupation to overcome the failsafe. I'm using fibaro motion sensors for temperature monitoring in different rooms and with pleg, a multi switch and a virtual temp sensor, I can select which room to control the boiler. Perfect for my house as the original Stat is in totally the wrong place.

Nice Device
After a fair bit of research I decided hat this device was going to do what I needed. It took some time to get my system working with it but now it is I'm very happy with it.

Nearly excellent
This is a direct replacement for a Horstmann 2 channel central heating timer. It fits on the same backplate and can be fitted straight on, although another backplate is included.. It works well (this is my second one, for another part in my system). It is a pity that the current state of the relays is not apparent on the front - you have to open the fiddly door and push buttons to find out. You might need to do this to make sure it's working, for example. Otherwise, great.

Works with Domoticz and Razberry PI
This unit is easy to install - it simply replaces the previous controller on teh same back plate. It can be controlled using a Razberry PI and Domoticz software: it presents as two simple on-off switches which the software can control directly or via timers and logic without a separate thermostat. Manual control and status check is possible via buttons. Good product.

Smart unit, now controlling my Boiler
Smart-looking unit, but hard to set up in a semi-gravity system, as there is no simple way I could find to link the pump request to the boiler switch. My old-fashioned controller did this easily via a link. More confusion with the display in VeraLite - the parent appears with heat/off and a thermostat, which do not do anything, the 2 channels appear as sub-devices, but each with a thermostat setting (which also has no effect, fan and energy modes), plus off, cool, auto, or heat. It would be a lot easier to use if it appeared as two switches - each on or off, which is what it is.

I have done a great deal of research into this device and ensured that it looks to do what I want and is supported by my controller. The support I have received from Vesternet is very good which has encouraged me to order hardware through them.

I have the Secure Wall Thermostat & Receiver Set installed, along with a dumb 7 day programmer. Can I straight replace the 7day with this, or will I need to remove the HRT receiver part of my current set up?

Can Vesternet or any user provide a config file for OpenZWave? I'm trying to write one but not luck.
Guest Visitor 30 Oct 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sure. I pasted the node config at hastebin dot com slash wiyesezope.xml The receiver is identified as Horstmann Unknown type 003, id 002. We should really get around to adding it to the openzwave database.
Is there any know config for OpenZWave?

Will this work with smartthings?
Richard H. 20 Jun 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the SSR302 works in SmartThings. One of our customers developed a Device Handler and app to allow it to work in ST, it now works very well. The Device Handler is available here -
Can receiver work z wave USB stick only? Or do I have to purchase thermostat as well?
tomasz 28 Mar 2015
BEST ANSWER: You can use the 2-channel receiver with just a Z-Wave controller, but you will need to be careful of the 'Fail Safe" function when not associating it directly with a Secure thermostat. We discuss this in this apps guide - If you need any further help, please send us an email to
