New Qubino Flush Relay Plus with Dry Contacts

The Qubino Flush 1D Relay Plus is a single channel Z-Wave switch with voltage-free (dry) contacts capable of controlling lights and appliances up to 10A. It connects wirelessly with your Z-Wave controller and fits easily into an existing light switch, enabling you to wirelessly control appliances. The smart switching module also works as a repeater to improve range and stability of your Z-wave network.

Volt free relay
I needed this to wire in to my electric gate control motor and as an dry contact. It works perfectly and means I can schedule my gate operation through Vera. Top notch

Can someone explain dry / volrage free contacts? Trying to decide which module to use for controlling some outside lights.

BEST ANSWER: Dry or volt free contacts are simply contacts that can be used to switch an existing circuit. They don't provide the voltage power, they just act as a switch to close a circuit and in this case are opened and closed by a relay. This module has contacts that draw power to run the module but that power is not used to drive the connected load. The dry contacts are opened or closed by the internal relay allowing you to switch a device (such as a light) on or off. I use these for switching my outside lights. Wiring is simple, you just need to be sure that you can provide continuous power to the module so it can operate the relay. (See the 3-wire system explanation on this site)
Can I use this to control a 5 volts thermostat ?

BEST ANSWER: Not sure how you "control" a thermostat but if you mean can you supply a different voltage for the connected load, the answer is yes. The unit itself needs either 230V AC or 24V DC and the output contacts are volt free. Download the user manual from the Vesternet site which has good diagrams.
I bought and installed this. However to get it to act like a momentary push button for my garage door I need to set some parameters. What's the best way to do that? I have a SmartThings hub. Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: Our guide about controlling garage doors shows which parameters to set to allow it to mimic a momentary switch. You basically set the auto-off timer to around 1 or 2 seconds. This is shown in Hope this helps.
Can I connect this into a ceiling rose? If so how? The guides aren't very clear on this.

BEST ANSWER: You would not use the 1D relay for mains power circuits like lights. The 1D has dry (Volt-free) contacts and is used for controlling systems that use a different voltage to that of the relay or as a plain switch (for garage doors etc). For lighting you should use the Qubino Flush Relay x1 Plus - this controls mains voltage circuits directly and can be wired at the ceiling rose if you wish. Qubino Relay-1 Plus -
Can the Qubino door sensor be connected into this and does it show as a operate sensor in the Z-wave control panel (Vera in my case)? I'm weighting up all my options for controlling a gate and this seems perfect if it runs from 24v and can have the door sensor connected directly into it as well. Less items to need to wire up

BEST ANSWER: The unit can be fed with either 240v AC or 24v dC. I would suggest you use either 240v SC OR 24V DC. In your case feed the unit with 24v DC and take a tap via the Z-Wave controlled relay to action a device. The relay can be permanently set to on or pulsed on for a pre-determned time. My curtains need a pulsed ON for 5 seconds to operate. The next ON will reverse the curtains. There is also a temperature option to switch the relay based on pre defined temperature. I use others to switch on house lights and these are housed in a DIN enclosure.I use Homeseer. M
Can this relay report the energy usage of the load connected to it?

BEST ANSWER: No because it has 'dry' (volt-free) contacts. These contacts can be used to control an alternative voltage or act as a pure open/close switch for alarm panels and similar applications. So there is no way the module can monitor power. If you want to monitor power use, then I would suggest using the Qubino Relay-1 Plus - - this will control the load and monitor the power used.
