Quick Start Guide - Z-Wave Starter Kit
This Quick Start Guide shows how to easily start using the products included in the Vesternet Z-Wave Starter Kit. It can also be used to help you get started with any VERA Z-Wave system.

The Starter kit includes the following devices (you may have all or some of these):

- VERA Lite Z-Wave Controller
- TKB On/Off Wall Plug
- Fibaro Universal Dimmer Module
- Fibaro Relay Module
- Fibaro Dimmer Bypass
Getting Started
To get your system up and running, we suggest the following steps:
- Install and Set-up VERA Lite
- Add your first device - TKB Wall Plug
- Create a Scene - control the plug based on a simple schedule
- Install the Fibaro Module (Dimmer or Relay)
Install and Set-up VERA Lite
Installing VERA Lite should take less than 5 minutes.
- Place VERA Lite close to your Wi-Fi router
- Connect VERA to your router by using the Ethernet cable
- Connect the power supply to VERA and turn On
- Wait a few minutes until VERA's 'Power' (blue), 'Ready' (orange) and 'Network' (green) lights are solid On
- VERA is now ready for you to use
- You can access VERA's using your browser by going to http://getvera.com/setup/
- Note: It's worth noting the IP address of your VERA as you can then access it directly from your browser

Adding Devices to VERA
For the Z-Wave Starter Kit we suggest adding the TKB Wall Plug to the network first - you can of course add any device you wish.
- Follow the instructions in - APNT-48 - Adding Devices to VERA
- Use the 'Standard (Low-Power)' method to add the TKB Wall Plug
- To add the TKB Wall Plug press its On/Off button once while VERA is in 'Inclusion' mode
- You will now have the TKB Wall Plug displayed in VERA's 'DEVICE' tab

Note: By default the TKB plug is set to 'Night-Light' mode - this means that the LED is On when the plug is Off. You can easily change this:
- Change the TKB's Configuration Parameter to 1 (1 byte DEC)

Create a VERA Scene
A scene enables you to control various devices on your home automation network with one single command. The scene can be activated manually by you, from a sensor or other device on the network, or based on a schedule.
For this example it's good to start with a simple scene to control the TKB Wall Plug at particular times of the day - such as Sunset and Sunrise (Dusk/Dawn)
- Create your Scene and Schedules by following instructions in APNT-15 - Using VERA as a Sunset - Sunrise Controller
- You can configure the scene to activate the TKB Wall Plug at particular times of the day or sunset/sunrise

Installing the Fibaro Dimmer or Relay
How the Fibaro Module is installed depends on which one you have and how you plan to use it. These guides show how to install it into your homes wiring:

When the module is correctly installed you can add it to the VERA network:
- Follow the instructions in - APNT-48 - Adding Devices to VERA
- Use the 'Portable (Low-Power)' method to add the Fibaro Module
- To add the Fibaro Module press its 'B' service button quickly 3 times
- You will now have the Fibaro Module displayed in VERA's 'DEVICE' tab

You now have your VERA Z-Wave system up and running.
