Question
Why does my Siren show up as a light bulb in Vera?

Answer
Quite often Vera will decide what the type of a device is based on the "Command Classes" that the device reports that it supports. This can sometimes mean that a device that supports multiple different Command Classes will be classified incorrectly by Vera.
Solution
Frequently the incorrectly classified device will only result in a "cosmetic" issue in the Vera UI, the actual device will function perfectly.
In the example given above, it is actually possible to change the device type for the Siren so that it shows a more appropriate icon in the Vera UI.
To do this, click on the "Spanner" icon for the device in the Vera UI and select the "Advanced" tab. Change the "device_type" to "urn:schemas-micasaverde-com:device:Siren:1" (without the quotes).

Next, change the "device_file" to "D_Siren1.xml" (without the quotes).

Once completed, follow any prompts in Vera to "SAVE" and then wake-up the device to allow Vera to configure it (if required).

Note: Sometimes changing the device type can have an adverse effect on the device functionality, so it is important to make a backup before making any changes so that you can revert to the previous configuration should a problem arise.
