Relay Switch 2 x 1,5kW (FGS-222)

Radio controlled Fibaro Double On/Off Relay Switch is designed to be installed in standard wall switch boxes, or anywhere else where it is necessary to operate two independent devices of combine current up to 10A.  Fibaro Double On/Off Relay Switch can switch on or off connected devices either through radio waves or through the wall switch connected directly to it.

3-minute installation

The installation of Fibaro modules takes about 3 minutes. All you need to do is remove a given switch (e.g. the one responsible for switching the lights on and off) from the wall, disconnect it from the wires coming out of the wall, connect the Fibaro module to the wires and reconnect the switch to the module. Next you need to screw the switch into the wall, and thus complete the process of physical installation.

Miniaturized structure

Each Fibaro System module is only 42.5 mm long, 37.0 mm wide and 15.9 mm high, which makes them the world’s smallest devices of this type. Some other advantages of the Fibaro System include neat appearance, reliability and perfection.

FGS-222 Features:

Double relay switch capable of operating two independent loads of up to 1.5KW (6.5A) each.

  • Controlled through other Fibaro devices or any Z-Wave controller
  • The smallest device of this type in the World!
  • Requires 3-wire (including neutral) installation - further information is in our 2-wire/3-wire guide
  • Independent control of two separate loads (1.5KW / 6.5A each)
    • Maximum load per channel: 6.5A (1.5Kw)
    • Maximum total load: 10A
  • Can use mains or alternative power supply for load (including DC)
  • Works with AC power supply only (110-230V AC)

Control my 2 sets of Silent gliss curtain tracks
I really like the Z-Wave Fibaro Relay Insert 2 with its dry contact. I bought 2 of them to control my 2 sets of Silent gliss curtain tracks but can be used to control so many other things. I also find that Fibaro relays are the most reliable of all my z-wave stuff and respond every time.

Look at the root ....:))
The main thing in this product is "dry relay contacts". What else can I say? Who understands - he understands .... The rest - small things.

Controlling garden lights
Fibaro relays are reliable and work with a Vera conroller. They also have the range to reach to my workshop in the garden in which I have housed the transformers for the low voltage garden lighting. As this one controls 2 separate channels I think the price of £24 per channel seems reasonable. For anyone using these with Vera (and maybe other controllers) I recommend powering them up near to the controller (I just use a 'fly lead' with a plug on one end) and pairing it with the controller before installing elsewhere as this ensures a simple pairing process.

Best ever!
I already have a Fibaro HC2 to control various things in the house. I was ready, due to the spring arriving, to connect my sprinklers up to the HC2. I purchased these relays as they were most suitable and yes, they work fine and give me total manual or automatic control over watering my garden. I also fitted the whole sprinkler system myself, and it didn't leak!!

Very Reliable compare to others
If you want to use it for serious load , Fibaro is the best , I used to control my LED down-light , no issue at all

I used these in waterproof boxes in the garden initially to switch on lights around the garden. I did have range issues initially with the HCL controlling them even with TBK68's and other Relay inserts in the path. Once I added the RGB module the range has been superb! I have the FGS-222. two are about 10M from the HCL another two are 16M away, both with clear line of sight (through a glass door.

How would you wire this in a bathroom fan isolation switch? I plan to have a humidity sensor control the fan rather than the bathroom light, and therefore probably don't want timer overrun either.
Antony S. 9 Oct 2017
The off position on the switch is an open circuit (and on closed), is there a way to invert this (I want to use the relay to act as a trigger on my external alarm siren where the Neutral is move to an open circuit to trigger the alarm). I would be using the relay with SmartThings.

Does anyone know if I can power S1 & S2 off an alternate live feed. All the diagrams out there show S1 & S2 powered off the mains live feed. So, power the Relay off the mains live, Q1 & Q1 off lets say 24v and S1 & S2 off 24v also? Thanks!

Hi there, is it always best to just buy the double switch even if you are going to put it in a single switch? the reason I ask is that I have lots of triple switches and wondering if its best to just get two doubles rather than a double and a single. thanks

Are the relay output connections "volt free" - ie are they isolated from the incoming Live and Neutral which power the unit? can I use it to control a DC circuit with the module powered from mains?
sparkywatt 1 Nov 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it's highlighted in the product description. You can also see that in the user manual that's in the 'Guides' tab.
If wired up to a light switch can you still turn the light on using the switch even if the relay is off?
Guest Visitor 27 Jul 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. The switch controls the relay and does not control the power to it - you need power to the relay all the time otherwise you could not communicate with it. This guide shows how they are wired -
can i use this Fibaro switch with my HomeSeer Z-Troller?
Marshal 23 Jul 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes these should work fine. We have users using them together and I believe HS tested them a year or so ago.
I would like to use one of the two controls of this relay, as a binary sensor. I need only one light to control through this relay, so I thought to use the second free channel as input only and connect it to a switch. The switch (toggle) will activate a scene to raise or lower all z-wave controlled blinds in my house. Do you see any problem with that? Can I set one scene for the "On" position and another for "Off" on my Vera Edge? Thanks
Avi G. 23 Jul 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Avi. The only way to do this with the Fibaro dual relay is to have channel 1 controlling a load and have no load connected to channel 2. You can then switch channel 2 - this will be see by VERA and you can use it to trigger a scene.
Does this relay exist in z-wave plus version?
yannick 22 Jul 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, the Fibaro relays are only Z-Wave (not Z-Wave Plus). I would suggest looking at the Qubino relays as they are Z-Wave Plus and offer the same functionality as Fibaro.
Is there any way this (and other fibaro modules) can be used in the uk with standard twin and earth power cables?
Steve I. 4 Jun 2016
BEST ANSWER: The relays and roller shutter both need neutral. So it really depends on what you wish to use them for and what cables you have available. That doesn't really affect it being used with standard twin and earth cables as these will work fine with those types of types of cable. It;s not the cable that matters but what those cables are supplying - Live, Switched Live or Neutral. In the application notes section we have wiring guides available for all the Fibaro device - If you contact sales we wil be able to help you further -
If I used one of the relay outputs to control a garage door, is it possible to still use the other as a light switch? I'm guessing not but thought it best to ask to check. Be good to turn lights on when door opens :)
Huw T. 18 Apr 2016
BEST ANSWER: This is a dual relay so you can control two separate loads (On or Off). So controlling the light will be fine. However, the question would be how you plan to control the garage door - direct mains power to the motor or will you use the relay as a pure switch to activate the garage door controller? If you send me an email to I will be able to help you further.
Can I use the Fibaro relay to control the manifold actuators for underfloor heating zones?
AndyB 10 Apr 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, we show them being used that way in this heating guide - All Z-Wave Heating guides are also shown at -
What bulbs can be used with this relay ?
Daniel S. 10 Mar 2016
BEST ANSWER: Although the answers given are correct, you have to be aware of switching inductive loads because these reduce the amount of power the module can handle. As already pointed out, this inductive load drastically increases the in-rush current (i.e. the current drawn with first switched on) and will weld the output relay contacts permanently on. 1.5kw rating will allow you to switch approximately 6 amps @ 240VAC but this will drop to about 1.5 amps when the load is inductive. Poignantly, LED drivers can be particularly bad to switch if they have been manufactured poorly; unfortunately finding this out is neigh impossible except to give it a go :-(
