4 button scene controller...OK but not perfect
Background - On my Vera Edge system, I already have a Popp wall controller that has been a nightmare to get working. Based upon my experience as a non-techie, I'd say that the Popp is unlikely to work without a lot of help from Verasupport (nearly 3 hours in my case - without which it would certainly have been impossible). In contrast, the process for getting the Nodon Octan working is much simpler. Basically there are two stages (1) get it recognised by Vera and (2) set up the scenes. What I found was that stage 1 was easy and worked fine but that stage 2, whilst easy also created a number of problems. I had to install and uninstall six times before it worked. The main issue was that for some strange reason, setting up the scenes on the Octan, deleted ALL the scenes that were already working on the Popp...which then would not work until the scenes on the Popp were set up again! Would I buy another one?....probably yes knowing what I now know. But my advice would be to: 1. Do a full network backup before installing the Octan 2. Check the scenes on any other controller before and after installing this and set them up again if they won't work What do I like?... 1. well there aren't many secondary scene controllers out there and this does work in the end 2. the control unit in the centre is detachable so can be used as a mobile remote if wished What don't I like?... 1. it looks a bit French (yes I know it is!)...size and style don't fit the standard in the UK 2. at present, the unit only easily controls 4 scenes unless you are a which case its up to 16 i believe. Hopefully Vera will sort this out at some stage but given that most scenes need an on and off, the reality is that the 4 buttons give only 2 ons and 2 offs 3. another review has mentioned that the buttons are a bit firm...true but not a problem to me 4. there's apparently some sort of set up conflict with the Popp wall controller...and maybe others? Presumably it wouldn't be an issue if only Nodon controllers were used in a system? 5. the labelling on the 4 buttons is a bit limiting. I'd prefer no labelling at all or 1234 as that would make it easier to communicate use of the buttons to multiple users

Great !
Great product that can act like a standard wall switch or a remote that can be placed on the fridge or on the computer with the integrated magnet.

Good design let down by poor functionality
Aesthetically the device is well designed by Z wave standards but that's about it. It is a switch, but the four switches are hard to press and give very little tactile feedback - in short, the primary mechanical function is poorly designed. Over time you get used to them but visitors will be wondering whether they have operated a switch or not. It works OK in stand alone mode and is recognised by my Homeseer 3 system but that's as far as it goes in gateway mode. So far, not been able to access any of the parameters or get it to work as a switch. The instruction are inaccurate in places and the website promising a list of compatible equipment doesn't appear to exist. Yet another Z wave wall switch product which holds much promise but delivers little, even after hours of fiddling.

Great unit - Settings for use with HC2
This is a great little unit that works well and looks very smart so ideal for mounting on the wall, something you wouldn't want to do with an ugly looking remote. To get this working with a Fibaro HC2 you need to use the following settings. They were a little hard to come across but I've listed them below. You need the following parameters... Parameter 1 = 0, Parameter 2 = 0, Parameter 3 = 1. Then you can use the following button ID codes in any Block/LUA scenes... Button 1 - Single Press = 10, Double Press = 13, Hold Press = 12, Hold Released = 11 Button 2 - Single Press = 20, Double Press = 23, Hold Press = 22, Hold Released = 21 Button 3 - Single Press = 30, Double Press = 33, Hold Press = 32, Hold Released = 31 Button 4 - Single Press = 40, Double Press = 43, Hold Press = 42, Hold Released = 41

Because they appear to match style and thoughtful design and functionality unlike many Z wave products.
