Z-Wave controllers are the backbone of your smart home network. You can choose from simple keyfobs or handheld remotes for local use at home, all the way through to full-blown Internet gateways that enable you to access to your system from anywhere in world.
Types of Z-Wave Controllers
Gateway – The main brain that communicates with your devices. Depending on the number of devices and the size of your home, the Lite version of the VERA or Fibaro might fit your needs. Stepping up to the full version of the VERA or Fibaro allows more features and flexibility.
Wall Controller – Can be used to activate scenes from the main controller or directly control Z-Wave devices such as lighting, fans or window blinds.
USB – Walk around your home and include/exclude devices and plug into PC or Mac to configure your home automation system. Designed to be used with software such as Homeseer, Indigo, Z-Way, etc.
Keyfob – Compact size to fit in pocket or purse but can act as primary or secondary controller for controlling & configuring devices and activating scenes.
Extender – Primarily used to amplify signals between Z-Wave devices and extend coverage throughout your home.
