The Next Step To True Intelligence
Fibaro Z-Wave Dimmer insert module retrofits into an existing light switch enabling you to wirelessly control lights. The new Dimmer 2 is a true universal dimmer - automatically selects the most suitable dimming type (trailing-edge or leading-edge) based on the bulb type used. It measures the power being used and reports that to the Z-Wave system and it is fully Z-Wave Plus certified - offering increased range, extended battery life and Over The Air upgrading (OTA).
Intelligent Light Recognition
Using the unique, specially designed algorithm, Dimmer 2 recognizes the type of a connected light source and calibrates itself to set proper values. Now you can be sure that lights in your home are controlled in the optimal way.
Compatible With Both 2 and 3 Wire Systems
The Dimmer 2 is designed in such a way that it can be used in both 2 and 3 wire electrical systems. It may be used as a switch with non-dimmable light sources (in 3-wire connection) so you can use it in older electrical systems as well.
Also, the Dimmer 2 incorporates a number of security features protecting the device from overheating, overload and voltage drop. Should any of these happen, you will be notified immediately.
Power Metering
The new Dimmer 2 features power metering functionality. You can view the energy consumption of your home in clear charts and graphs, and use it to reduce your monthly bills.
More Convenient Connectors
The Dimmer 2 is equipped with large connecting terminals which simplify the installation process. You can connect it to wires of a larger diameter and make the installation faster.
Scene Management
Dimmer 2 offers an extremely intuitive scene management. The device will turn one of the light switch buttons into a scene trigger. Activating a selected scene becomes as simple as turning the light on. Just press the button while entering the room!
User-Friendly Configuration Menu
The built-in RGB diode is a perfect source of information during the installation process. It will show you when the Dimmer 2 has been included to or excluded from the network. You will see whether the calibration or software update have successfully completed. You can also check the Z-Wave network range.

Leading-edge dimming - transformers and other resistive-inductive loads
Monitors and reports power - instantaneous (W) and accumulated power (KWh)
Auto-off Timer - turns lights off after programmed time period
Maximum load 250W (resistive), 225VA (resistive-inductive) and 200VA (resistive-capacitive)
Supports 2-wire (no neutral) and 3-wire installations - further information is in our 2-wire/3-wire guide
Second switch input for controlling additional associated devices or 2-way installations
Various switch types - momentary (default), toggle, 1-way and 2-way

Z-Wave Fibaro Universal Dimmer 2
Having bought the original Fibaro Z-Wave dimmer, the mk 2 version is a good upgrade, which supports dimming of LED lights much better than the original.
The unit is easy to pair to my controller and set up to use in various scenes is extremely easy. Using scenes to change light level based on time of the night.
The device size is very compact and easy to place where needed. The installation instructions are very clear and the device is clearly labeled. Integration with Fibaro Home Center is a breeze and setup of custom functions is very easy through the Home Center interface.
I've been using Fibaro devices for several years now and haven't had any issues. The only complaint I have is regarding Fibaro's support of their Home Center 3, which seems to be drawing to a close. I highly recommend other Fibaro devices.
Easy to use. Great benefit is that it does not require a neutral. Be sure to order the dimmer bypass if you are going to use LED fittings or else the fittings remain on at a very low level
Absolutely love these. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Have 19 of these installed so far in my house. Many of which have been running for over 5 years. No issues at all with any of them so far. Still have more to but when I can afford it.
Easy to install and set up (and doesn't need a neutral wire). I have replaced my previous generation (FGD-211) dimmers with these as going from incandescent to LED meant that the lights weren't drawing enough power and they flickered. The FGD-212s solved this and I have found no need to use a bypass yet. Lots more features than the FGD-211, although I don't really use these.
I have about 7 of these, and on the plus side, they’ve been extremely reliable. Not had one fail in about 5 years.
The frustration for me is the closed-off nature of the support/firmware update procedure. I don’t think I should have to buy a fibaro hub, unpair my devices, pair to the hub, update them, unpair again, and pair back to my system. For that reason, I regret buying fibaro kit
Works as billed. Don't be fooled by the name, there is only 1 switched circuit. Lots of competition in this space so buy what works for you. Double tap to full brightness is good, not blown any up yet.
I've set one of these up with a 2-wire installation, and found it ideal when combined with a 3-position switch (look them up - usually, they can only really be bought in the UK as grid/modular switches, but very inexpensive). It specifically has a setting for use with 3-pos switches, and works great with them, though this might not be possible depending on your exact setup (e.g. if you have multiple switches for the same light, depending on the wiring).
I've had no problems with this product, and have bought a second one for a different light.
The second generation is a marked improvement, detection of surges, autoconfiguration of LED (or other) type, loads of configuration parameters if you really need them, but by and large really reliable, and great if you have 3-way retractive switches ("up / down clickers").
Probably the most resilient of my Z-Wave devices from a user experience perspective, I have several Dimmer 2 + Bypass 2 circuits controlled via an AEON Labs Z-Stick and Home Assistant and I am about to install more. I particularly like the load type sensing and the second physical switch terminal which presents as a separate virtual switch to Z-Wave.
