Z-Wave Shelly Wave Motion is a compact, battery-powered motion sensor designed for smart home security and automation. It features precise motion and light detection, up to 3 years of battery life, and extended range with Z-Wave Long Range support—up to 80 m indoors or 1000 m outdoors. With Security 2 encryption, SmartStart setup, and reliable wireless communication, it ensures fast, secure performance and seamless integration with Z-Wave hubs and devices.
Easily added to your Z-Wave network, the device enables remote control and automation with a range of over 400 yards (line of sight) using Z-Wave Long Range in a star network. It responds in under 300 milliseconds and runs on a battery that lasts up to two years. Supporting smart scenes and custom schedules through compatible Z-Wave controllers, it offers flexible and intelligent home automation.
Featuring strong S2 encryption and ultra-low power consumption (under 0.3W), this sensor offers reliable wireless coverage up to 40 meters indoors with Z-Wave Plus, or up to 80 meters when operating in Z-Wave Long Range mode. Operating on a sub-GHz frequency for stable connections, it also supports SmartStart for easy automatic setup. Compatible with a wide range of Z-Wave Plus devices, it ensures seamless integration into your smart home network.
When motion is detected, the LED indicator briefly flashes red, and the device transmits data including the motion event, illumination level (if enabled via parameter 155), and current battery status. To avoid excessive reporting, it will not send another motion report for one minute (this interval can be adjusted by the user). However, the LED will continue to flash on any new motion detected during this period.
If no motion is detected within that minute, the device sends an update indicating the absence of motion, along with the latest illumination and battery status at the time of transmission.
Powered by a 3V CR2477 battery (included), the device offers up to three years of battery life. It features motion and light sensors and operates using Z-Wave S800 technology. While it does not function as a Z-Wave repeater, it supports long-range communication—up to 80 meters indoors and up to 1000 meters outdoors, depending on conditions. The compact white plastic design operates reliably within a temperature range of -20°C to 40°C and humidity levels between 30% and 70%.
