Straightforward installation.

Whoever handles it, they’ll have Heavy Duty Smart Switch installed like a pro in no time. They’ll need a screwdriver and a wirestripper; everything else comes in the box. After safely turning off the power, they’ll install Heavy Duty Smart Switch inline, stripped the wires, and attaching the provided wire terminals to the power cable and to Heavy Duty Smart Switch.

Z-Wave Plus Aeotec Heavy Duty Switch

Good very robust solid switch unit that is safe to put into your airing cupboard for your immersion heater. Overkill maybe, but 3 KW at 240Volts needs a suitable solution. Using it with C7 Hubitat. I want ALL the available variables for power monitoring and only some appearing default without the usual faffing.. I am using ALEXA to schedule water heating on / off.. and so far, it is working a treat.

Bought this to control my immersion tank, works really well, when it arrived it was quite large but considering it can do 40amp it’s a decent u it! It’s a shame no one makes a 20 amp zwave switch but this one is in a cupboard and works great!

Z-Wave Plus Aeotec Heavy Duty Switch

After having various issues with other switches to control a 3kw immersion being at their limit (which were designed for that purpose such as SIR 321), I decided to abandon physical on switch boost etc, which I rarely used anyway and install this instead. The Aeotec Heavy Duty switch has been 100% reliable and is a really good repeater for other devices too. I just wish I had made the change sooner. I'd definitely recommend this not only for 3KW (which is only really 9a in the UK, but voltage variability alters this), but definitely for its main intended purpose indoors or outdoors. If I installed an electric car charger i'd very likely install one of these, triggered on proximity/geolocation to disable the external charging plug capability when I was away from home.

Z-Wave Plus Aeotec Heavy Duty Switch

A huge device, but it needs to be to be able to handle up to 40A! Great for anything with power draw over what a normal Z-Wave socket or module can handle. Using several of these for remote switching and power monitoring of immersion heaters and overnight storage heaters. Also has double-pole switching which is a bonus! Only issue is there's no local control (other than the internal "action" button) but really it's not designed for local control as you'd typically be switching via Z-Wave in response to a schedule or event.

I bought this to control my above ground swimming pool pump and heater. Together they can range up to 10 Amps. The module is certainly larger than I imagined but that wasn't an issue. It's mounted inside a loft cavity, screwed to a joist. The terminals are substantial and easily took the 2.5mm wires. Once wired, it easily paired with my Samsung SmartThings. I've since set up a schedule on SmartThings and it's been faultless in the month of operation. It's not clear why there's a button to operate it when the button is not accessible with the cover on, but perhaps it's just for testing. Would definitely buy another if I need to control a lot of amps. As an added bonus the module also continuously reports kW consumption, and also the total kWh periodically. So now, I've been able to calculate how much it costs to run the equipment attached. Excellent piece of kit.

Great product. The terminals are fiddly and this is totally an oversight for such a nice product. I have taken one star off only for this reason. I actually like that the manual button is inside the cover. However, if you need to reach this button, the live terminals are only centimetres away. Solution: I recommend that the cover be two parts. One cover to cover up the manual override button. The second piece of cover to access the terminals. Terminal connectors just about accepts large cables but the connectors can be further improved. Performance: Definitely 5 Stars! It does a perfect job. I have not pushed it to its limit yet. It does not heat up. That is a good sign. Recommended, as the performance is superlative.

Works well. Gives peace of mind that in event of fire or when we're on holiday I can kill the power. I have one of these for each of our oven, microwave, washing machine, tumbler, immersion heater and patio heaters. It reports energy usage which HomeSeer records and displays too. Three downsides. 1. The button for linking to your zwave network is inside the box. Sparkies don't like leaving 45A circuits open for you to poke your fingers in. 2. Again, that same button can turn it on/off but is only inside. That means we had to fit separate manual isolators to satisfy sparky. 3. Despite being zwave+ I could only get these to add to HomeSeer properly if I moved my znet to be in the same room as them. Not had a problem with any other zwave+ devices. Minor inconvenience and once set up they seem maintenance free so far. Overall, very pleased.

Z-Wave Plus Aeotec Heavy Duty Switch

This unit has worked without a hitch since it was installed and linked to a VeraEdge Controller. I have fitted two to a boiler with two immersion heaters. Since the units are located in a cupboard with the boiler, I use the internal thermometer in the unit to turn on the immersion heater when the cupboard temperature drops below a certain level. Only four stars given because there is no measure of power consumption with the standard VeraEdge installer - unless someone can tell me differently.
